Hemp derived cannabidiol (CBD) has gained a lot of attention in recent years. In fact, you may have asked your friends, family members, or even your veterinary practitioner about it. As mainstream media continues purveying story after story touting its seemingly endless medical utility, chances are you may have even toiled the notion of trying some out first hand. With the litany of options and tactfully marketed products available in the marketplace it can be somewhat confusing discerning what is really in these products. We’re here to help! Deciding what type of CBD Pet product you want isn’t always as clear cut as the product’s ingredients label is designed to make it.
What is SOLVENT-FREE vs. SOLVENTLESS? Understanding the unique differences in these terms as they relate to CBD infusions can make a world of a difference when deciding which CBD product(s) may work best for your beloved pet. Primarily, there is a clear distinction between a SOLVENTLESS extract and a SOLVENT-FREE extract. 99% of ALL Hemp/CBD extracts on the market are made using some sort of a chemical solvent extraction methodology. Generally as part of the manufacturing refinement process the solvent and/or solvents used to chemically extract the active ingredients from the industrial hemp biomass are remediated to non-detectable levels. These extracts are referred to as SOLVENT-FREE. The complete opposite side of the spectrum is where SOLVENTLESS extracts reside. This type of process entails absolutely no solvents, and utilizes centuries-old artisan mechanical separation techniques to create a truly unparalleled extract laden with a complete native spectrum and ratio of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and beneficial phytomolecules.
What is a Full Spectrum vs. Broad Spectrum Extract, and how does this correlate to being SOLVENTLESS or SOLVENT-FREE Products? The fundamental difference between a Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum Extract or Product is the presence of another naturally occurring cannabinoid, namely THCa. A Hemp/CBD extract, or any Hemp/CBD product for that matter of fact, which does not contain any measurable amount of THCa simply put is not a REAL Full Spectrum! Broad Spectrum implies a classification of extract or product(s) that are essentially devoid of all THC, its isomers, and precursors (THCa). Many times now-a-days sneaky marketing tactics allude to a Full Spectrum, but ultimately deliver only a fraction of that or are completely felonious examples of mislabeling. If the claim is Full spectrum, check for a Certificate of Analysis (COA) that shows measurable amounts of THCa and other cannabinoid carboxylic acids.
SOLVENTLESS and SOLVENT-FREE are not the same. All SOLVENT-FREE Extracts and/or Products are not Full Spectrum, and should never garner the connotation. SOLVENT-FREE Extracts do not contain carboxylic acid forms of any cannabinoid. The only REAL Full Spectrum Extract is a SOLVENTLESS Extract. Period. SOLVENTLESS Extracts and Products naturally contain native ratios of carboxylic acids which no solvent-based or SOLVENT-FREE extract has. A consequence of all solvent-based extraction methods is the necessity to remove the residual extraction solvent, which inadvertently converts THCa to its decarboxylated form THC, and forever changes the phytochemical consistency and ratios of native:post-process constituents.
A lot of the terminology on labels can be misleading which is why it’s important to carefully read the labels and understand the directions and recommendations on all products prior to initiating use with your animal . VetsGrade’s Plant-based Hemp Pet supplements contain REAL Full Spectrum Solventless CBD Rosin infusions that are all third-party batch tested and come with a 100% Money Back Guarantee. The difference is Pure SOLVENTLESS!
